All the following walks are for fully paid up RA members only.

 

The walks are limited to 20 people or in some cases, 12 people, and you MUST book a place by emailing [email protected] (unless stated otherwise on the walk details).  You will need to state your Membership Number (and which Group if you are not in Stockport Group).  Also we will need a contact phone number if you are not in Stockport Group or are a new member.

SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER

 

WILMSLOW CIRCULAR

Start Point:  Lindow Common car park on Racecourse Road.  Nearest postcode SK9 5LR

Time: 11am

Distance: 7.5 mls.  Grade C Leisurely

Parking: The car park is located just opposite the Premier Inn. Parking here is limited, however there is roadside parking further along Racecourse road and the surrounding area

 

From Lindow Common we will walk towards the Carrs and then on to Quarry Bank Mill. We will head towards and continue through Styal Woods along the River Bollin.   Then we will continue towards the Airport Hotel en route through the fields to Morley. From here, we will head back to Lindow Common.  There are some lengthy flights of steps (total ascent 250ft, 75m) and the walk can be very muddy in places.  There is some road walking involved however this is a lovely leisurely walk for a Sunday.

Three Shire Heads via Cumberland Clough and Dane Valley Way. Might be a bit boggy if wet! 

 

Start and finish at Clough House Car Park. Parking is free. Please note the postcode is actually in Wildboarclough village, about 1 kilometre south of Clough House Car Park, so keep your eyes peeled for the car park entrance.

Note: This walk is limited to 12 people

 

From the car park we will head towards and walk along Macclesfield Canal.  Once we cut off we will walk through fields which will take us to Straines road. Once we cross this main road we will pass Bruce's clock and up head towards  the Fox pub. Just under 1,000 climb. Just past the Fox we will take lunch and weather permitting fabulous views. We will continue crossing Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club and walk down towards the Roman Lakes. From the Lakes we will head towards Marple Bridge and back to the car park.
